Looking to the future

Last year I made a post about my father being diagnosed with cancer. Since then my posts on here have been very sporadic as was helping my mother help take care of my father and helping him had been my number one priority for this past year. On December 9, my father lost his fight with cancer, but we were able to give him his final wish of not dying in hospital and he left us at home surrounded by family and love.

My dad was a hard working man all his life that enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to bring. He loved his family, friends and his football team. A die hard Fremantle Dockers fan he was, a whole corner dedicated to them in his man shed out back. He enjoyed simple plain old fashioned food and it always made him smile when I made a Sunday roast for himself and me.

I want to return to blogging properly in 2020 and make a real go of it. 2019 has been one hell of a shit year for me and my family, but if there is one lesson my father instilled in me it is this. You have to take it one day at a time no matter how hard or easy life is, you have to keep moving forward and work for what you want because no one is going to hand it to you.
