Yes, I did say again, and please note that this post was not planned and that this is a rant because it seems every couple of months I have to bring this subject up again. A recent video in the TikTok BL and yaoi community has gone somewhat viral and no I will not be sharing the video because one I am quite sure both the girls are most likely under age and two I do not want to help spread this video around. I do however need to talk about this video and why it is so bad.
The video in question shows one girl laughing at what her ten-year-old sister is reading on the phone in her hands, said ten year old is quite clearly reading BJ Alex. There is so much wrong with this situation. 18+ material is not meant for minors and no that is in no way gatekeeping and here is why. Exposing a minor to explicit material is illegal in most countries and not only that but this sort of behaviour is categorized as grooming of said minor and therefore makes this an act on the sisters part whether she realises it or not endangering a child and if the older sister is underage as well that brings up even more issues to me.
Why are the parents of these children not monitoring what their children have access to online? Because guess what parents it is not the job of the service provider or the websites to protect and control what your children have access to, it is you.
But what pisses me off about this situation the most is all the people laughing at this, making a joke of it with comments like ‘it’s good to start them young on the good stuff’ or ‘kids got good taste. Now I have a dark and sometimes edgy sense of humour I will fully admit that, but not when it comes to the safety of real-life fucking children!
I want to make one last thing clear before I post this. I in no way blame TikTok or the Boys Love and Yaoi community on there. There as some amazing adult creators on there doing the right thing, some of them even calling out this video and bringing attention as to why this is so wrong and again it is not gatekeeping to keep children out of 18+ spaces and as I have also said before we as adults are allowed to have 18+ spaces online. It is not our job as consumers or creators of the content to keep children away and those doing the right thing will outright state if their channel is an 18+ space, but at the end of the day, it is the job of the parents and guardians of children to parent their own children, not everyone else.

well a minor who is commenting in this post (i’m 15 btw) but i totally agree with you, 10 years old or even 13 is not a good age to watch those kind of stuffs at all !!, let’s say romance in general and wholesome gay animes are quite okay like skate the infinity and number 6, (let’s say shounen ai) but like bj alex?????? even me couldn’t see some scenes because they’re way too much, and I’m a fujoshi too, i rarely read manhwas, but I’m more into the very classic bl anime like junjou, yami no matsuei, loveless, and gravitation (early bl 2000s animes), but for like a 10 years old girl, if she’s really into gay stuffs that much, she can watch shounen ai, its really cute, but no more bj Alex or any +18 things.
