Alpha Hole Prison – Yaoi Game Demo Review

Astronaut Miguel Sanchez is in big trouble, he is light years away from home and whats worst he has been thrown into the most dangerous prison in the universe, The Alpha Hole Prison. A place where prisoners are not just sent for punishment but to ultimately disappear. In order to survive the ordeal and possibly escape Miguel is going to have to find someone to protect him within the prison walls, but that protection will come at a great cost depending on who he chooses.

The finished game promises the following…

300,000 word character driven story

6 Adult Only Routes

Animated Love Scenes (got a preview of some of these in the demo)

Threesome option in every route

60+ endings

300+ CGs

Your choices will matter throughout the game and affect what ending you get

Partial Voice Acting guaranteed and full voice acting if stretch goal is reached

Original music

and all backing endings to arrive on time

So what did I think of the demo? As in introduction to the characters it was a fun ride getting to know everyone and I was happy to see that nearly everyone was intriguing. There was one character that was kind of boring but I get the feeling that was kind of the point he comes across as a sleaze and that is about it and he is indeed very forgettable, but from the trailer I get the feeling that is the point of his character. The characters I found most fascinating were Miguel the main character who seems to be the kind of character that hides his fears and insecurities behind an amusing sense of humor but is also very naive. The first alien Miguel meets Rin-Timber at first seems just as naive and more innocent than the main character and is almost adorable but the more time spent with him soon reveals there is certainly a reason why he has been sent to Alpha Hole. The last character I want to mention is the mysterious goth boy Xenoskar who I immediately gravitated to because I must confess I found him adorable. Supposedly he is one of the most dangerous inmates after all every time he is out of his cell they chain him up. Very little of his story is revealed within the demo, only that everyone seems scared of him and that left me very curious.

Much like their previous project Mister Versatile, Alpha Hole Prison will only get a full game if Y Press Games reach the fundraising goal to make this game. If you want to play the demo it can be found here and if you want to help support the campaign for this game you can so right here and much like their previous project I wish them the best of luck in reaching their goal!

Ten Count Vol 1 – Manga Review

Finally got a hold of volume one of this popular yaoi manga and I can happily say this is a manga that has lived up to the hype and this is not something I say often. I tend to avoid anime and manga that are over hyped because there has been so many times in the past where I have found myself greatly disappointed once I did sit down and watch the anime or read the manga.

The series is about Tadaomi Shirotani a young man who suffers from severe OCD and mysophobia, but he is ok with this as long as he does not cause trouble for others. This is how he has lived his life for as long as he can remember, this becomes a big problem for him however when his boss is in an accident he could have saved him from if only he could have reached out to the man. Lucky for him his boss is saved by a stranger on a bike, who happens to be a child psychiatrist by the name of Riku Kurose and upon talking Shirotani recognizes his disorder and offers to help him.

Kurose decides to help Shirotani by having him make a list of ten things he can not do because of his disorders and that he will help Shirotani work through his list and once he reaches number ten he will tell him why he is helping him.

This is a really interesting set up for a slow burn story and the first volume treats Shirotani’s disorder with respect and not just a plot element which I must admit I found really amazing in knowing the level of social stigma Japan has for mental illness.

I also really enjoyed the relationship growing between the two and also found it fascinating that as they seemed to grow closer it was Kurose who pulled away and not Shirotani. There is a mysterious pull Kurose seems to have and it becomes very clear that even though Shirotani might not realise it but he is falling for his mysterious new friend and the ending of the first volume left me wanting more and to see where the relationship will go in the future.

I ask that if you comment on this post you keep all comments about only the first volume as I am trying really hard to avoid any spoilers for this series. Also I would like to know if you my readers would like me to do more single volume reviews of yaoi manga series? If so let me know below.

Welcome to Fujocon 2020!

In this time of social isolation a lot of us are sad that we are having to miss out on anime and other pop culture conventions, a highlight of the year for many of us within many a fandom. The call has been answered online with many conventions moving to being big online events, which has been pretty awesome. For example I got to attend German Comic Con this year for the first and probably only time ever… or to be more exact an online meet and greet they had with the one and only Robin Lord Taylor through their Instagram account which was soo awesome!

For all us fujoshi and fudanshi stuck in isolation at the moment there is now a con just for us and that is Fujocon 2020 hosted by the lovely BL Garden of DFW who host the lovely yaoi and fujoshi podcast 8OH1 which I must confess I am a huge fan of and one of my favourite ways to relax lately is putting on an episode of the podcast and listening while I soak in a hot bath.

But what is Fujocon I hear you asking? Running July 11-12 2020 it is a virtual gathering of like minded individuals with a love of all things yaoi and Boys Love! Now before continuing I feel I must inform you my reader that yes this is an 18+ only event. Now I know many of us start our yaoi journey younger than we should but with the content that will be within this con it is understandable why it would be an Adult Only online event.

Like any convention the con will include panels, fan meetups, a cosplay competition, artist alley and some games that have yet to be announced. The last one has me really curious and I can not wait to find out what fun will be in store for the games!

Now the most important question, how do you attend the con? The con itself is being held on the Fujocon website and will include activities using Discord, Zoom and Twitch. It is highly recommended that to keep up with all updates about what is happening and when to follow the official Fujocon and BL Garden of DFW social media pages.

I am really looking forward to this event and who knows maybe I will see you there at Fujocon 2020!
